The Bachelor of Arts Community Studies is the first degree CBU offered as a university, and remains unique to CBU. This degree offers the same excitement and perspective of a B.A. but also allows students to combine a career option with an academic area of study right from the start. There is also an opportunity to combine the B.A.C.S. degree with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in four years. At the end of three successful years, students will receive a Bachelor of Arts Community Studies degree with a career concentration in Business. After the fourth successful year, they will receive a Bachelor of Business Administration.

The BBA at CBU will prepare you to analyze a business situation, identify alternative responses and resolve business difficulties. If you intend to have a career in any of the professions, in private sector or public sector management, or intend to run your own business a BBA degree will help develop and sharpen your business skills. Programs within the BBA core courses place an emphasis on a broad range of business topics - accounting, marketing, finance, human resources, and economics. You have the option to study elective courses in many areas including: law, tourism, IT, the arts, health, sports, sciences, engineering.

Students can study business in the BACS program in two ways:

Focus on business in your Academic Field within the 3-year BACS degree

Complete both the BACS (90 credit) degree and the BBA degree in 4 years. Specific BBA core courses are required.

An overall average of 65% is required for all students applying to most CBU credit programs based on high school performance. Additional requirements may apply to specific programs. English Language Requirements: Please arrange to have test results sent to Cape Breton University from one of the following agencies: TOEFL score of 550 (paper test), 213 (computer test), or 80 (internet test); IELTS (and IELTS Indicator) score of 6.5 with no band below 6.0; CAEL score of 60; MELAB score of 85; Pearson PTE (Academic) score of 59; CanTEST score of 4.5 (reading & listening), 4.0 (writing); Duolingo English Test score of 115.
