Modern Language Studies

Study a comprehensive language package by combining a new language with linguistics courses in a single subject. Choose from Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Maori, Samoan or Spanish. As you learn to speak and write your new language, you'll also be studying Linguistics - the structure, use and cultural importance of language itself.

Future-proof your career

The job-market is changing fast with many current jobs predicted to be automated within 10 to 15 years. Gain skills valuable in any workplace studying for a BA develops your creativity, flexibility and imagination, and teaches you how to think critically and present an argument. Flexibility in your degree

Take advantage of the flexibility Victoria University of Wellington offers. Depending on your degree, you may be able to do a:

Double major-specialise in two subjects in your degree.

Second major from another degree-study a wider range of subjects without doing another degree.

Minor-specialise in a subject without doing as many courses as for a major.

Conjoint degree-this intense programme lets you complete two degrees more quickly, usually in four years, by requiring you to do fewer courses.
