This stimulating year of study will equip you with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to successfully meet the challenges of our engineering degree programmes.

The Foundation Year at the University of Southampton is a one-year, integrated preparatory course to prepare students for entry to our BEng or MEng degree programmes. On successful completion of the course, students are offered automatic progression to their undergraduate degree programme.

Students must have this qualification: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)/O level or equivalent: 5As in the science stream, including Mathematics and Physics; Minimum B+ in Additional Mathematics. IB: 32 points overall, and must not include Higher Level Mathematics and Physics; Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM)/A Level: ABB (cannot include subjects suitable for direct entry, normally Mathematics and Physics). However, students need to show an aptitude for Mathematics and take a Foundation Mathematics test. Students who achieve band 1C IELTS 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each component will only require English language classes in the first semester
