Information plays a key role in all aspects of life – in business, government, society and the life of the individual. Knowing how to create, manage, share, find and use digital information is more relevant than ever before. Information and Social Computing gives you a chance to explore the ways companies such as Face book, Twitter, Intel, Google and Apple utilize the interplay of people, information, technology and social structures to succeed in today’s digital world.

International Study Opportunities

Students may study abroad for a year or a semester. Destinations include the USA, Australia, China and Canada. Students studying Information and Communications Studies with Chinese will study abroad for their third year.

Graduates can progress onto the Master of Information Systems (MSc), which prepares students for careers as information systems professionals, or the Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS), in information architecture, web design, information consulting and digital media management. Graduates can also progress to a Masters of Digital Curation which prepares students for careers in digital curation and data management.

Students must have Award of Regional Ministry of Education/Municipal Education Commission (or equivalent) approved Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate and GaoKao result. In some circumstances the Huikao may be acceptable. Students must have Cambridge A Level: At least three subjects at A Level Grade C and three other subjects at GCSE Level Grade C. UCD requires Baccalauréat de l'Enseignement Secondaire + 1 year at a recognised university (Diplôme de … (plus professional field); Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures; Diplôme d'Ingénieur/d'Architecte d'Etat or Licence). English language requirements: IELTS - An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version; A minimum score of 600 in the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), with Test of Written English at 475 +, a minimum score of 90 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (IBT); Pearson English Language Text: Minimum of 63 and at least 59 for each item in the Communicative Skills section.
