Introduction

Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) programme aims to train candidates to become landscape architects who are capable and skilful in all aspects of planning, designing and managing landscapes toward establishing a quality, healthy and balance environment for human needs.

The programme is comprehensively designed so as to produce students who are well versed in their fields of specialisation through multi-disciplinary courses. UPM’s Landscape Architecture graduates are capable of facing current challenges in line with the Country's rapid development. They are sensitive and responsible in the utilisation of natural resources to meet the Country’s development needs. Graduates from this programme have found jobs in multi-national consultancy firms overseas.

This professional programme is accredited by the Malaysian Public Services Department (JPA) and the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM).

Programme Outcomes

Program Objectives [Educational Objectives Program (PEO)] Bachelor of Landscape Architecture is to give: i. knowledgeable, skilled, creative and innovative landscape architects in the areas of assessment, planning, design, implementation and landscape management. ii. Ethical, architectural and professional landscape architects in the service of the community in terms of producing a working environment, safe and beautiful; and iii. Landscape architect who is sensitive and caring for national development needs and is capable of adjusting these requirements with the limitation of nature.

Career Information and Industrial Training

The National Landscape Policy (DLN) launched on 30 September 2011 is a holistic government direction in an effort to provide quality and sustainable living environment for the well-being of the people. DLN aims to make Malaysia the Most Beautiful Garden by 2020 which places the importance of landscape development as a necessity in the country's physical development and as a prerequisite for improving the quality of life and sustainability of a developed nation. In line with this aspiration, the development of the national landscape should be planned, implemented, managed and regulated effectively. The Architecture Program of the Landscape Architecture offered is relevant and very necessary in realizing this policy. Through this program of study, the university can produce skilled graduates planning, designing, implementing and managing landscapes effectively. Beautiful, attractive and functioning landscapes for the purpose of providing them a conductive environment for all walks of life in line with the national mission of raising the level and sustainability of the quality of life of the community and towards making Malaysia a recognized and vibrant country of international status.
