The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is designed to prepare students for success in the commercial, non-profit and public sectors of the Canadian and global economy, while engaging in their communities.

Rather than giving you a highly theoretical “big business” degree, Mount Royal’s distinctive four-year program features experiential learning in the classroom and co-operative work experience opportunities. Once you graduate with a BBA, you’ll be prepared to hit the ground running and make your mark in the business world.

You will have the opportunity to specialize in one of four majors listed below. The General Management major allows you to focus in other fields of business as a minor. You may also use the General Management major to pursue minors in areas of study offered outside of the Bissett School of Business.

Finance is about managing money and acquiring funds. Through a combination of theory and application students will develop an in-depth knowledge of investments, financial analysis, and financial risk management, corporate and international finance. An incredibly versatile program, this knowledge can be applied personally, at the corporate level or in the public sector.

A Future in Finance

Students pursuing a Concentration in Financial Analysis or a Concentration in Financial Services will be able to explore a wide variety of opportunities in either the private or public sector. Graduates have found careers in the finance departments of private companies, public institutions, non-profit organizations and entrepreneurial endeavors. Careers in financial analysis or financial services are among the possibilities available.

Finance offers many career opportunities:

Personal and Corporate Banking - Meet with and interview corporate and personal clients to assess their financial requirements and give advice, authorize and evaluate loans, mortgages and more.

Financial Advising - Research the marketplace, advice clients on products or services available and then make recommendation on how clients can best invest or spend their money.

Financial Analysis – Determine company valuations and make recommendations to influence corporate or organizational policy.

Risk Management and Insurance - Plan, design, and implement sound risk management systems for your firm, assess and evaluate risks and report on risks to different levels of management.
