This degree has been developed by a national consortium of tertiary providers, in conjunction with industry, to prepare graduates for a career in the diverse field of civil engineering. Graduates will be in a position to enter into employment as well as develop their capacity to attain professional competence and to fulfill the role of a professional engineering technologist.

Applicants must have successfully completed at least 42 NCEA (or equivalent) credits at Level 3 (including 14 credits in each of two subjects from the NZQA Approved Subjects for University Entrance list); and 8 credits in NCEA English Level 2 (four in reading and four in writing from the NZQA Literacy Requirements for University Entrance list) (or equivalent); and 8 credits in NCEA Mathematics Level 2 (or equivalent); or Successfully completed at least 72 credits at NCEA (or equivalent) Level 2 including a minimum of 14 credits in each of two subjects and including 8 credits in each of reading/writing and mathematics and including 30 credits achieved at Merit or Excellence; or Have at least 60 NZQA recognized credits at Level 5 or higher; or Provide evidence of equivalence through practical, professional or educational experience e.g. three–five years’ full-time work experience (relevant to ICT) they can apply for entry. Evidence of literacy and numeracy will be required. MIT literacy and numeracy assessments are available. English language requirement: IELTS test: Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18); PTE (Academic) score of 50.
