Chiropractors commonly treat musculoskeletal symptoms such as back and neck pain, headaches, pain in the arms or legs and many other conditions. Common medical tests such as clinical examination, x-rays, and blood tests are conducted to determine the most appropriate care for each patient.

Chiropractic is a system of complementary medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulative treatment of misalignments and functioning of the joints, especially those of the spinal column, which are believed to cause other disorders by affecting the nerves, muscles, and organs. The demand for the profession is increasing as more of the general public is aware of the services chiropractors offer. With a population of 30 million (comparable to Canada), Malaysia could use an additional 6,450 practitioners to equal the same number of practising chiropractors in Canada. The majority of chiropractors are in private practice, working in clinics with shared facilities. A growing number of hospitals and clinics utilise chiropractic services, as well as various clinics around the world where chiropractors work in multidisciplinary group settings with other types of healthcare providers, such as family medicine specialists and orthopedic surgeons. Chiropractors have also procured positions in military clinics and hospitals, sport medicine teams, as well as in education and research.
