托福阅读句子插入题举例分析

托福阅读句子插入题用来出题的段落应该是在前面题目中已经见到过的，要插入的句子是要和原文有一定的关系，也就是说，插入句的部分含义是在原文中有所重复的;另外，出题会确保不会因为缺失这个句子而影响全文的大意，要插入的这句是可有可无的，要么总结引领下文，要么进一步解释上文。出题原理有指代线索、逻辑线索、组织结构和语义线索。

解题方法

首先，做句子插入题时必须先读句子而不是先读段落，并且要看句子的逻辑关系，根据关键词和要点来选择，关键词是解题的关键，它是理解上下文和这个句子的逻辑关系的核心，关键词有逻辑连词(因果、转折、递进等)、指代词等，常见的关键词有in addition、on the other hand、for example、on the contrary、therefore、in other words、finally、similarly、as a result、this、that、such等;此外，还可以从第一个小黑方块前一句开始读，逐一带入进行验证，插入句必须满足前后两条线索，先看前线索再看后线索;另外，句子的顺序应遵循从大到小，从抽象到具体的原则，找到重复的句意后，按照大小顺序安置插入句的位置。

(一)例一以TPO10第三篇Seventeenth-Century European Economic Growth为例

插入句：They could also avoid having to identify and asses the value of a wide variety of coins issued in many different places.

原文：The development of banking and other financial services contributed to the expansion of trade. By the middle of the sixteenth century, financiers and traders commonly accepted bills of exchange in place of gold or silver for other goods. Bills of exchange, which had their origins in medieval Italy, were promissory notes (written promises to pay a specified amount of money by a certain date) that could be sold to third parties. In this way, they provided credit.
