S3 阅读Bulletin然后听对话，复述bulletin然后总结对话中女生的观点 bulletin：学校要在dining hall开辟express area，可以让学生买了吃的之后pay and leave。这样可以节省时间，尤其利于busy student。为了避免delay，express area会设置在entrance of dining hall。 女生观点：totally not a good idea。原因1，学生会把食物带去课堂，开辟快速通道本身就是因为没时间，而没时间的情况下学生更可能把食物拿去课堂吃，于是打扰到其他同学。原因2，食堂入口是最窄的地方，进进出出人很多，吃饭时间快速通道的排队会cause inconvenience for people leaving and coming。

S4 阅读一个概念，然后听教授讲课。阅读：Compound nesting，大概是互利共生关系。Two different species live close together and share the same home. They do not compete with each other for resources or food所以不会造成什么影响，而两者的生活习惯可能造益对方。

教授：我们来举个例子，茫茫大森林里有两种蚂蚁，他们住在树洞里（hollow tree branches）。两种蚂蚁一大一小，大的每天出去觅食，带回树洞里吃，吃完了的残渣碎屑被小蚂蚁吃掉。小蚂蚁以这些残渣碎屑卫生，不需要出去找食物。小蚂蚁吃掉碎屑于是keep environment clean，避免了细菌滋生，而这些细菌可能导致大蚂蚁生病而威胁到它们的survival。

S5 两个学生对话，提出两个选择，复述然后让你选一个。 女生表示哲学课的reading assignment读了一遍不懂，还需要再读一遍，但是她没有时间了 男生问为啥，女生说，因为闺蜜中午要来吃饭，闺蜜离这里30min，搭火车过来，所以她不想爽约。 男生问你要咋办，女生说，那就不读了吧，下午直接去上课，不发言就好了，但是这个课很小，不说话肯定要被注意到的 男生说那reschedule呢，女生说，这对我们都很不方便，说她闺蜜已经是改了自己的行程才凑上时间的。

S6 教授讲课，复述。

开店需要考虑位置。很多人把店开在市中心，这叫做Centralization。在市中心开店成本很高的，但为啥大家这么做呢？有两个好处。

一个是市中心容易到达，尤其是用公共交通。公共交通便利的地方，会有更多人流量，所以会有更多customers。比如一个bakery，开在偏远地区，哪怕东西很好吃，要是我没有车的话，我也很难到那儿去。

另一个是市中心可以有商业区clustering of business, and form a group of business。商业区的每个商家独立吸引自己的顾客，但他们会增加周边店的客流量。比如一个bakery如果开在shopping mall的话，人们去shopping比如买衣服的时候，就会顺便去bakery逛一逛。

S4讲一个现象是老师提供的学习材料让同学学习不如让同学自己找材料（自己感兴趣的）更能激励学生。

Speaker’s daughter Anna wants to learn guitar, with the intro-material given by teacher, Anna seldom concentrates on it and even have day dreaming. The instructor knows it and change the way to teach. He wants her to bring some songs she like or popular, by learning those songs she is interested.

S6 two ways that plowing help crops to get more nutrition.

1. bring the nutrition to the surface. eg: corn, when it rains, the water brings the nutrition down , by plowing it can bring it from bottom to the surface.

2.prevent other plants to absorb the nutrition. eg: corn, weeds, by plowing it can dirt the weeds and the weeds die.

S3 Proposal: the university gym should open up more free group classes like yoga and karate

Listening: agree

R1: she and her friend have been to group classes like this and there’re a lot more fun than doing sports alone R2: a lot of students can volunteer to teach, so the classes can be free, and they can ask teachers from city gym to volunteer as well.

S3一个学生在信中建议由教授改全部作业，原因1.教授可以给学生more detailed and helpful comments than TA. 2. Professor gets a good sense in this way and can make adjustments

R1: Professor has too much work so cannot give specific comments to each students.

R2: Professor meet TA every week, and they can get feedback efficient.

S4 Reading: memory amnesia means the sources of the memory are forgotten.

Listening: 教授用自己的经验做例子，说他去看他姐姐，看到蝴蝶，就说他想起了小时候，和姐姐Hiking的时候，累死了的想放弃的时候看到了漂亮的蝴蝶，然后就想继续前行；然后他姐laughed at him，因为他搞混了，这个情景出现在他们儿时共同看得电视节目里面。

S5 P：The woman lost her part-time job, so she didn't have enough money.

S6 seabird 的challenge + adaptation：1 sunlight too bright。但是seabird have small eyes ，阳光不易射进去，所以也能看；2 salty water： seabird体内有一个器官可以absorb + remove salt，这样就能喝道fresh water.

S3 学校报纸上有个proposal说宿舍的电视节目里加入国际频道。第一个好处是可以帮助大家学习外语，第二个好处是可以让国际学生接触到自己看到自己国家的电视节目。对话里面，一个小姑娘觉得这个proposal特别好。然后分别举自身例子证明这两个理由。小姑娘在学西班牙语，然后发现看这个国际频道可以帮助她提升西班牙语水平，加大词汇量。另外，小姑娘去年去西班牙学习了。当时在那的美国学生都想看在美国发生了点什么。所以可以理解国际学生有这个需求。

S4 先看一个关于circadian rhythm的介绍。有两个要点。一个是每人都会有自己的alert time 和tired time。 第二个要点就是这个rhythm随着时间推移可能会改变。那个lecture里面教授就举了2个例子。首先说在大学的时候他习惯晚上学习，因为那个时候他精神好，效率高，睡的比别人都晚。早上就会特别困，起不来，所以他从来不选早上的课。第二个例子说他做了年纪大了做了教授发现，早上效率比较高，晚上就各种累。所以现在他的习惯颠倒了。早上看看书，备课，晚上就早早睡觉了。

S3 Announcement：一些很老的书就store outside of library

Listening：woman觉得不好

1. 这有个better solution， 可以存在 study room里，因为很大，而且不是很慢

2. 她总是在paper快due的时候才知道，自己需要什么书，outside library很不方便

S3 Reading：学校给志愿者提供住宿，进行一周的志愿者活动。

Listening：好

1很多学生想做义工，但是没钱stay over night，这样解决了问题。

2一周的时间并不长，因为前几天要training一下skills，真正做义工的时间只有几天。

S4 Passive-aggressive behavior。指一个人遇到不开心的事情时并没立刻表现出不满，可是会在以后发泄。

教授举自己作例子，说一次他生日他的sister在最后一刻才说太忙不能来。当时教授说understand her，可是内心深处还是不满。于是以后有一次跟他sister约好吃饭，故意迟了很多才去。说这就是Passive-aggressive behavior。=

S5对话中女的说自己take了很受欢迎的professor的writing class，可是人非常多非常crowded。

Solution1：她认为writing class应该有更多机会跟老师交流，所以不知道是否应该转到另一个教授学生少点的writing class。

Solution2：然后又说或者她可以等下学期这个受欢迎的professor再开同样的课。下学期的课会在一大早，所以可能会少点学生。

S4 讲公众效应，一个人如果犯错误了，你只对她自己说是没有用的，你要找做得比她好的人当众表扬，这样会引起他的注意反而能改进他的行为。举了一个小孩玩积木的例子。Sarah，不听话，不遵守the rule of playing，玩完以后不清理玩具，不放回原处，老师说也不听，老师注意到Paul每次都会清理玩具clean the blocks，于是老师当着Sarah的面表扬Paul，然后Sarah就改正错误了。

S5 P：女生的问题是不知道现在交作业好还是明天交好

Solution1：现在交可以解脱了，并且还可以和朋友们去玩

Solution2：明天交可以再改改，争取好成绩。

S6动物怎样消化草，有两种，一种是some animal digest grass by physically grand grass机械方法如兔子有大板牙帮助切碎食物Rabbit with flat tooth，另一种是化学方法by chemical如牛有多个胃可以促进消化。Cow with large stomach

S4 Definition：agonistic behavior, animals of same species fight for territory or food, but they don’t hurt each other

E.g. two rattlesnakes both spotted food in a hole, and they started fighting to take control of each other, but they wouldn’t bite each other, the winner would let the loser go.

S5 P: the woman wants to throw a party at her apartment for her friend, but the heating system broke down

S1: they can go to Italian restaurant, but too expensive

S2: have the party at home, but people will have to wear more clothes to keep themselves warm

S6 Two strategies to address customers’ concern

1 emphasize on special features, if a customer is concerned about the price of the laptop, the salesman should concentrate on telling the customer how fast and efficient the laptop is

2 demonstrate in front of the customer

S3 Reading: school is planning to provide off campus students with more service like put TV sets in student center and...

Listening: agree

R1: students have sth. to do during breaks

R2: better way to exchange info with other students, e.g. arranging carpools

S4 Signaling: People are less likely to purchase a product that’s really expensive, but they’ll change their mind if there’s an expert to convince them.

e.g. pro’s friend has a jewelry store. Lots of his items are thousands of dollars. In order to encourage people to buy, he paid an expert to certify his jewelry. More customers are convinced he’s got quality products and started to buy.

S5 P: woman wants to see a play, but there’s a history test tomorrow

S1: go to the play and study after it

Pro: she can get sth. done on the way

Con: she wont get good result on the test

S2: skip the play

Pro: get enough time to prepare for the test

Con: she’ll miss the play and free tickets

S6 Two ways ants work as a group
