Why study Arts at UL?

At the University of Limerick, we deliver an Arts Degree which is flexible and wide-ranging, offering 19 subjects in all. You can study a combination of subjects (as Single Honours or Joint Honours) from across the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Why study New Media and Cultural Studies at UL?

The cultural studies and new media pathway will allow you to undertake specialised study in cultural studies including film studies, comparative literature, visual cultural studies and cultural theory as well as aspects of new media.

“New media” refers both to the media that have emerged in response to technological evolution and to new ways of using traditional media as a result of technological change. In addition, you will also acquire critical and analytical skills; specialised new media production skills; research and writing skills and the opportunity to study abroad and obtain work experience.

An equivalent qualification to the Irish Leaving Certificate or A levels (UK system). Students are required to hold a Senior High School Diploma including English, Mathematics and another language with an average grade of 80% or above. Particular programmes may require specific subjects. IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5 (Please note some programmes have a higher IELTS requirement.) with no less than 6.0 in any component. TOEFL: 580 (paper based) or 90 (internet based). Please note, we can only accept Academic IELTS. General IELTS will not be accepted. University of Cambridge ESOL: Certificate of Proficiency in English - Grade C / Certificate in Advanced English - Grade B. Pearson Test Of English (ACADEMIC) - PTE ACADEMIC: a minimum score of 61 (with no section score below 59); ETAPP: English Test For Academic And Professional Purposes: Grade C1.
