This Bachelor's programme combines Chemistry, Biology and Medical Sciences in a challenging programme full of laboratory practice. You will unravel the workings of healthy and diseased cells, gaining fundamental knowledge that is needed for medical innovation. Think of stem cell therapy, personalised medicine or self-healing materials.

What will you learn?

Medical challenges can only be solved with a combined expertise in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Sciences, Informatics, Physics, and Mathematics. As such, Molecular Life Sciences students should have solid backgrounds in chemistry, physics, and mathematics before entering the programme. You will learn how signalling molecules are produced from the DNA and how they are transported through the cell and the body. Moreover, you will be studying the differences between healthy and diseased cells. You will get acquainted with these topics during lectures and seminars, and performing hands-on experiments in the lab.

International educational qualifications: If you have a non-Dutch Secondary School degree, your previous education will be assessed by the Admissions Officer of the Faculty of Science to determine whether it is of sufficient level. If the level is sufficient, then you could be directly admissible or additional conditions may apply (such as taking an English or Mathematics test). For accepted English tests, have a look at the language requirements. For Computing Science, you can prove your English language proficiency by obtaining one of the following diplomas: A Dutch VWO diploma; An International Baccalaureate Diploma (diploma programme), A European Baccalaureate Diploma, with English Language 2 or English Language 1, GCE A-Levels, A diploma equivalent to, or higher than the Dutch VWO diploma, with English as the only language of instruction, obtained at an institution in an EU/EEA member state, Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America. IELTS Academic, overall-score 6.5, sub-scores 6.0, TOEFL iBT, overall-score 90, sub-scores 20, Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced (CAE) or C2 Proficiency (CPE), scores C.
