Become an ambassador of Maori knowledge. Discover the contribution it can make to problem solving the challenges faced by and within global societies.

An understanding of Maori language, culture and Te Tiriti o Waitangi is key to shaping the social, political, and economic future of our nation.

With a Massey BA (Maori Knowledge) you’ll acquire knowledge of Maori society and culture, particularly the significance of te reo Maori, Maori worldviews.

You’ll gain Te Tiriti o Waitangi knowledge and skills. You’ll be able to engage with a range of social, cultural, economic and political structures and processes – you’ll be an agent of positive Maori development. You’ll acquire important connections that will enable you to demonstrate your social responsibility toward Māori development, in ways that are respectful of communities, the environment, and wider society.

The minimum academic entry requirement is successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance. Cambridge International Examination or Advanced International Certificate of Education (CIE /AICE) A or AS levels, a minimum of 120 points from approved syllabus group list. And a minimum D grade or better in syllabuses from at least three different in each of at least 3 different syllabus groups (excluding Thinking Skills), as well as an E or better in AS English and a D grade in IGCSE or GCSE Mathematics. Taken in countries other than New Zealand (excluding United Kingdom): 3 A-levels including at least 1 C grade or better. A result in General Studies cannot be included among the 3 on which the application is based. English Language Requirements: IELTS - 6.0 (no band less than 5.5); TOEFL iBT- 80 overall (min 19 in Writing); PTE Academic - 50 Overall (min 42 in communicative skills); Cambridge English - 169.
